I remember when the first line of the song came into my head. Standing over the sink, doing dishes, water running. It was a drought that year. We had buckets in the shower to catch the water so we could water the plants. Just trying to conserve and be conscientious. "Worried bout the water" came into my head so I wrote it down in my book. The rest came and I don't remember much of that. But definitely apocalyptic with the past tense, "I stood with the Tall Tress"...In the studio while while we were recording this track my headphones came off during the interlude before the chorus. The band created that little walk down vibe, and I got my headphones back on just before coming in.
But the music....I remember the evening. I was in the barn in Aptos with George. I started playing the riff...No plans, no idea, just started playing. That was the riff and George Berry came right in. Ive still got the first recording somewhere I think.
